The Mercedes-Benz "Pagoda" generation offers solid, reliable and diabolically appealing SLs. The term "Pagoda" was chosen because of the shape of its roof, resembling enough these Chinese structures. The Mercedes SL W113, its real name, was certainly an improvement of everything that Mercedes had been able to produce before. It offered more power and performance than the 190SL, to which it succeeded brilliantly since it won among others the Spa-Sofia-Liège rally with its very first version, the 230SL Pagode. After the 250SL Pagode, which had only a couple more to offer, the best of Pagode came with the Mercedes 280SL Pagode, a powerful roadster, with better suspension and a remarkable level of comfort.
Today still the Mercedes Pagoda seduces, intoxicates, fascinates. It is considered by many collectors as an excellent classic.
