Fine Art Photography of the 1997 Formula 1 SAUBER C16-04. Hundreds of photos assembled together to create an Formula 1 artistic vision. SAUBER C16-04" signed & limited art print.
The Sauber C16 was the car with which the Sauber Formula 1 team competed in the 1997 season. That season also marked the new partnership between Sauber and Ferrari, a collaboration that lasted until 2006. The Sauber C16 was initially driven by Johnny Herbert, who was in his second season with Sauber, and Nicola Larini, who left the team after five races, using the Ferrari engines used in the previous season's F310. Larini was succeeded by Gianni Morbidelli and Norberto Fontana, but all of these drivers were far outshone by Herbert who delivered a stunning season for the team, with the third podium in team history at the 1997 Hungarian Grand Prix in the Sauber C16, beating two Ferraris in the process.
Peter Sauber had a close working relationship with Ferrari. After the Italian Grand Prix he borrowed Michael Schumacher from them for a low-key test at the Fiorano circuit. Sauber wanted an experienced driver to help with the imbalance problems, as Herbert's team-mates were all struggling with the Sauber C16. Schumacher completed 84 laps and was running around a second slower than his best time in a Ferrari. In this secret test, Schumacher ran in a Sauber without sponsors. Photos were released many years later.
There is no doubt that the Sauber C16 made a lasting impression against all odds in the 1997 Formula 1 season. Automotive photographer Amaury Soares has immortalised this mechanical masterpiece in an unprecedented visual and artistic concept. Using hundreds of photos, he gives the Sauber C16 a new dimension and plays on emotions. In this conceptual art photograph, every detail is enhanced by the artist's exclusive and avant-garde technique.
